About the Photographer
Aviaaja Schlüter (sometimes signing as Avi) combines an artistic career with his passion for polar environments. Based in New Zealand, he also resides in Denmark and spends much of the year in Greenland and Antarctica.
With a minimalist and sensitive eye, Aviaaja Schlüter captures the beauty and fragility of polar environments under extreme light and weather conditions. She has earned international recognition, winning first prize in the first Open Call 2025 at Grid Photo Gallery (Open Theme) and being a finalist in the New Zealand Iris Awards. In addition to her artistic work, she leads polar expeditions, sharing her deep knowledge of northern cultures and natural history.
