Color 2026

Grid Photo Gallery announces its 2026 open call, Color, inviting photographers worldwide to submit work that engages with color as a central element of the image. Open to all photographic practices, this edition welcomes individual photographic works without restrictions on subject matter or method. The call is defined by how color operates within the photograph.

Color can function as structure, signal, atmosphere, or disruption. It may organize the image through rhythm and contrast, define spatial relationships, or shift the emotional register of a scene. It can be deliberate or incidental, saturated or restrained, continuous or fragmented. In some works, color carries cultural or symbolic weight; in others, it remains material, optical, or purely formal. This open call invites photographers to consider how color participates in the construction of the image.

For this edition, Grid Photo Gallery places emphasis on formal articulation and visual coherence. We are interested in work where color is not secondary, but integral to the image’s internal logic—whether through controlled palettes, unexpected juxtapositions, or subtle tonal variations. The selection will consider a wide range of approaches without privileging any specific genre or aesthetic. Chosen works will be presented in a curated global online exhibition, accessible worldwide, bringing together diverse perspectives on how color shapes contemporary photographic practice.

Color 2026 invites submissions that are attentive to how images are constructed and experienced. Photographers are encouraged to present work that engages with color in a considered and purposeful way, contributing to an open and varied exploration of its role within photography today.

Prizes

Selected photographs will be displayed in an online exhibition at Grid Photo Gallery.

2nd & 3rd Places

All Selected Entries

• Displayed in our main-page exhibition for at least one month, then kept online permanently
• Promoted via our social-media channels
• Digital certificate of participation
• Personal profile page on our platform, including a link to your website
• The top three photographs from the Open Call will be eligible for the title “Photography of the Year”

Selected works may be published in a printed catalog that will be available for purchase. Depending on circumstances, this catalog might feature various exhibitions or its publication schedule may vary.

Entry Fees

The participation in the contest has a single fee of 7€ per image.
There is no limit to the number of images you can submit. Please note that entry fees are non-refundable.
