About the Photographer
Born in Madrid in 1963, Carlos Morales Diaz is a photographer and retired biology, geology, and environmental science teacher. He graduated in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1986, specializing in Fundamental Biology, and began teaching in 1987 after passing the competitive examination for Baccalaureate Teachers. He continued his career in education until his retirement in 2023.
Throughout his professional life, Carlos Morales Diaz combined teaching with his love of photography. He describes himself as an alternative artist and has chosen to remain away from social media and personal websites. His photographic work includes the exhibition Verses for a Gaze, first presented in Rivas Vaciamadrid in 2008, where his images were paired with poems by writer Maite de la Vega. The exhibition was later shown in La Laguna, Tenerife, with new photographs.
His photograph Couple received second prize in the XI Cubainformacion Photography Contest in 2010. He was also responsible for the photography section of the Guia Audiovisual sobre itinerarios ecológicos por los alrededores de Madrid: La Sierra Noreste, which won First Curricular Prize from the Department of Education and Culture of the Community of Madrid in 1993, and participated in the Guía Didáctica del Parque Regional del Sureste de Madrid en Rivas Vaciamadrid in 2014.
Now retired, he enjoys spending his time with nature, travel, and photography.
