About the Photographer

Aslı Dural is an Istanbul-born city planner, academic, and photographer whose work has long been shaped by an interest in cities, people, and the environments they inhabit. After many years working as an urban planner and designer across different metropolitan areas, she also taught metropolitan planning and urban design at university level.

For more than fifteen years, Asli Dural practiced street and urban photography alongside her professional career. After moving to Texas in 2024, her photographic focus gradually shifted from human-centered urban environments toward nature, particularly wetlands and the quiet forms of life they sustain.

Her current work explores natural habitats from a less human-centered perspective, drawing attention to subtle relationships, overlooked presence, and the stories embedded in these environments. Her photography book Seeing Nature Again, published as a Kindle e-book, brings together images from five wetlands in Texas with the aim of encouraging a deeper connection with nature and greater awareness of its conservation.
