About the Photographer

José Miguel Vilán García is a self-taught photographer whose interest in photography has been present for many years, although it was in 2025 that he began dedicating a significant part of his free time to developing his practice. Initially focused on nature photography, his interests are gradually shifting toward more abstract and minimalist approaches.

Alongside photography, José Miguel Vilán works as a Mathematics and Technology teacher in secondary education and is also a professional cellist. In 2025, he won the XVI National Photography Contest “Cruz de la Plaza” in Esquivias, Toledo, receiving the award for Best Series with a body of work dedicated to the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands.

He has participated in several group exhibitions, and in 2027 his latest project, El otro Tiétar… y más allá, is scheduled to be exhibited at various cultural centers in the province of Madrid.
