About the Photographer

Karine Eyermann is a French photographer based on the island of Réunion, whose work is rooted in a deep connection to nature and a lifelong passion for exploration. Originally from Strasbourg, France, she is a self-taught artist with an academic background in biology and geology. For over 35 years, she taught these subjects, driven by a fascination with the natural world—a fascination that now finds full expression through her photography.

Her love of travel began with a formative trip to Egypt, igniting a lasting passion that has taken her across continents and deeply shaped her artistic vision. Early in her journeys, she picked up her first DSLR camera, determined to capture the beauty she encountered. Eventually, this quest for wild and inspiring places led her to Réunion, whose vibrant landscapes and ever-changing light continue to inspire her work.

After pausing to raise her two children, Karine Eyermann returned to photography about a decade ago with renewed focus. She specializes in landscape photography, with a particular affinity for coastal scenes captured using long exposure techniques that evoke a quiet, meditative atmosphere. Her work also extends to blue-hour cityscapes, candid street scenes, wildlife, and, more recently, astrophotography—especially of the Milky Way, where she explores themes of time, light, and cosmic wonder.

Karine Eyermann’s images have earned recognition in local photography competitions, and in 2024, she was awarded an Honorable Mention at the ND Photography Awards for a photo series—an acknowledgment that continues to fuel her creative growth and artistic exploration.
