About the Photographer
Michael Potts is a photographer, nuclear medicine technologist, and unapologetic minimalist—at least when it comes to photography. Originally from Pennsylvania, he relocated to Arizona in 2005, drawn by the promise of year-round warmth and a life free from snow shovels. He holds a degree in English with a minor in Chemistry from Bucknell University, a combination he’s still figuring out how to explain.
Professionally, Potts works as a nuclear medicine technologist—largely, he jokes, for the conversation. This role gives him the flexibility to pursue photography on the side without surviving solely on ramen or crashing on friends’ couches, though he maintains a fondness for both. Much of his remaining time is generously allocated to his cats, who disapprove of ramen but highly value quality couch time.
Michael Potts’ photographic style leans toward minimalism, favoring natural light and a stripped-down setup that includes only his subject, camera, and whatever environment he’s in. Despite a comic book collection that suggests otherwise, he avoids carrying excessive gear, preferring to let the scene speak for itself. His ultimate dream? To visit Mars—and ideally, make the return trip.
