About the Photographer
Nelson Manstein is an amateur photographer and student researcher whose passion lies in landscape and nature photography. With a strong interest in science and sustainability, he aims to develop solutions that address the environmental challenges of today’s world. Over the past decade, Nelson has traveled widely—from mountainous regions and the Florida Everglades to Arctic landscapes—transforming his lifelong curiosity about nature into a meaningful artistic pursuit.
His work focuses on capturing the beauty of natural environments while raising awareness of their fragility, particularly in the context of climate change. Nelson Manstein is especially drawn to Alaska’s Arctic forests and the glaciers of Denali National Park, which he visits regularly with his family. Dedicated to the preservation of Alaskan ecosystems, he has recently established a climate and landscape monitoring camera station in the Matanuska-Susitna area overlooking Denali, a long-term project intended to document environmental change over the next 10 to 20 years.
Nelson’s photography has been recognized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in its 2025 Arctic Report Card and has appeared in both local art and scientific publications in his native Miami.
