About the Photographer
Knarik Avanesyan is an Armenian travel and documentary photographer based in Prague. For over fifteen years, she has worked exclusively with 35mm film, developing a slow and attentive photographic practice rooted in long-term immersion.
Across the United States, Egypt, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Czech Republic, Knarik Avanesyan returns to the same cities over months and years, building relationships that allow her to document spaces, rituals, and traditions rarely seen. Her subjects range from Cairo’s medieval quarters and Hong Kong’s seal carvers to Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown and daily life in San Francisco.
She is also the co-founder of Loud Etudes, a literary travel publication that combines film photography with cultural essays and printed city guides. Her work reflects curiosity, patience, and a commitment to genuine human connection.
