About the Photographer

Svetlin Yosifov is a travel and documentary photographer from Bulgaria with more than two decades of experience. His work is driven by a strong connection to travel and exploration, often spending extended periods immersed in unfamiliar environments, where he seeks to encounter new cultures, people, and ways of life.

Focused primarily on portraiture, Svetlin Yosifov is drawn to capturing the character and emotion of his subjects. His photography often explores traditions and communities in remote and less-documented regions, including South Sudan, Papua New Guinea, India, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba. Through these images, he aims to create visual stories that go beyond documentation, reflecting identity, memory, and cultural continuity.

His work has been widely published in international magazines and exhibited globally, including features in National Geographic, Dodho Magazine, AAP Magazine, and Whalebone Magazine, as well as exhibitions at venues such as Agora Gallery in New York. Over the years, he has received multiple awards and recognitions in major international competitions, including Siena Awards, MonoVisions, Monochrome Awards, OneEyeland, 35AWARDS, and Tokyo International Foto Awards.

Yosifov has also produced several photographic books and long-term projects, including Good Bye Cuba (2016), Ten Rupees for India (2017), Ethiopian Tribes Expedition (2018–2019), South Sudan Tribal Expedition 2021, Papua New Guinea Tribes Expedition (2023), and The Last of the Mundari (2024).
