About the Photographer
Abdelrahman Alkahlout is a Palestinian photojournalist from Gaza whose work documents genocide, war, displacement, and human resilience under occupation. He began photographing during the 2014 war on Gaza and has since dedicated his career to preserving truth, memory, and dignity through visual storytelling.
His work has received extensive international recognition, including International Documentary Photographer of the Year at the Australian Photographic Prize 2025, Photographer of the Year and Editorial Photographer of the Year (Professional) at the International Photography Awards (IPA), and Photographer of the Year at the Tokyo International Foto Awards (TIFA). He has also been honored by LensCulture, MUSE Photography Awards, New York Photography Awards, 35AWARDS, Berlin Photo Awards, and other major international competitions.
Alkahlout’s photographs have been exhibited internationally across Europe, Australia, North America, and the Middle East, including official exhibitions in London, Athens, Budapest, and Canada. Despite being injured multiple times while covering events in Gaza and working under constant threat, he continues to document the lived realities of civilians, with a particular focus on children, faith, and survival under genocide.
Through his lens, Alkahlout creates visual testimony against erasure and affirms humanity where it is most threatened.
